yes, mom, i do wear yellow
Even girls with olive-toned skin and blue eyes should be able to wear a yellow shirt every now and then. So what if it makes me look nauseated! So there, Mom! Ha! I made myself a yellow shirt!
This is my first yellow shirt ever. And it brings me such joy. While I admit it doesn't bring out the best in my coloring, that's okay, isn't it? It would go really well with these shoes in yellow.
The pattern is Built By Wendy's Simplicity 3835. A breeze to make. It took me all of two hours, from ironing and cutting to clean up. Talk about instant gratification! I'll certainly be making more of these - unless, of course, I get sidetracked by other projects and other things, like, say, moving back to the US.
As of late, I've felt like my plate is overflowing. We have only 10 weeks left in Mexico, and the mega-move is closing in rapidly. Because I'm the kind of person who enjoys torturing herself with arbitrary deadlines, I've been understandably feeling tortured. Go figure. I had the best of intentions, the biggest of which was getting the Lola and Elsie Mae apron patterns sent out for testing before leaving for my cousin's wedding in California on Tuesday. It just isn't happening right now. Oh well - a shrug of the shoulders and a big sigh later, I decided work on this yellow shirt project instead. Sometimes you just have to forget about everything and make something fun, you know?
I've determined that the best place to hang out is in the eye of the storm. It's pretty nice in here. And if you put on some good music and do a goofy little dance, you can pretty much forget about the craziness that surrounds you.

I love the shirt and will likely go out and make a dozen for myself.
And I love the last paragraph of your post. Amen, sister, AMEN.
Dance away!

so true, your analogy about hanging out in the eye of the storm! :) Lovely yellow...and yes those shoes would be pretty cute! I just got a bright yellow pair of shoes! :)
Hang in there with all of life's busy challenges, Meg!

I love the shirt, looks great. And I agree about forgetting everything and making something fun :)

Hang in there!! :) I hope things settle down soon, and that you can find some peace and even more creativity amidst the flurry. :)

Great shirt - great post - I NEED that pattern! LOVE, love, love your blog - I have been inspired to do Sassy Apron Swap and may do Elsie May! Thanks Meg :-)

The shirt is amazing- great job. So funny about color scheme. Something I would hear from my own mothers lips (you are a "Fall") LOL!

My mother always said the same thing to me about yellow - it's funny how one small comment in childhood can stick with you like that...and potentially ruin the wearing a whole colour! Your shirt looks fantastic though and the shoes would look fabulous with it too! x

Your shirt looks great! I agree that working on a fun project can really help a person to feel better. I just sometimes have trouble getting back to what I need to do. :)

I love that pattern too, and the yellow looks great from here. Its certainly looks a whole lot better on you than it would on my milky white with a blue tinge skin ;o)

I love the 3835 pattern. And I've been eyeing up those shoes for a few days now. I haven't quite convinced myself to buy them. (I also like the red.)

I can't wear yellow, but shoes? I could do yellow shoes. Because you're right - it's an insanely joyful colour.

What a lovely shirt. I think the color looks nice on you!
I agree, I totally do the same thing with deadlines. We may be closing on a house and moving before the end of this month and only approx. 1/4 of the apartment is packed. I see mad rushing about in my future.

Great shirt! You definitely need to get the shoes to go with it! :)

I love that pattern and I've bought it, but I haven't tried it yet because the fact that it's a piece of clothing scares me. I've only made pajama pants before and that was in a class where I had help the whole way. It looks cute though on you.

Love that shirt, Meg! It looks so spring-y! I love wearing yellow, it brings out the highlights in my hair, and makes me feel fun and happy! I might have to try that pattern, I'm not sure about the sleeves though - did it have options?

Great shirt! I am so excited because I ordered that pattern last week. I've seen it popping up all over and I with my limited skill level I am up for the challenge. I think you should go for the dress. Add your own embrodiery and enjoy! :) Just a suggestion.

Love the shirt! What kind of fabric did you use for that - regular cotton or some kind of knit? It looks like something even I can make. I have the Sew U book by Wendy, but have yet to make anything out of it. Maybe it's time!

Pretty blouse. I just made my daughter a dress with the same sleeves and neckline, so I am excited to think I could (successfully) make this blouse. Thank you for sharing the pattern number.

I love the song and dance in the eye of the storm analogy, and the yellow blouse is so lovely. But I had to squeal when I saw those shoes. yum!

I've had that pattern for ages and you've given me the incentive to cut into it! You're right, fun is good. Best of luck with the move, just did one myself - not easy but music is a brilliant energiser. BTW Bet you're going to miss all those cute little faces at school :)

Great shirt, awesome attitude. I lived in Mexico for a year. There is something about that beautiful country that makes me want to return this very second.

I love that shirt! I happen to have the same problem with yellow, yet I happen to be very drawn to yellow clothes. I haven't been brave enough to wear them, but your pretty shirt has inspired me to try something yellow of my own. So pretty!
